Marian Slepian – Colorful Cloisonne

slepianThe Temple Israel Judaic and Archival Museum was pleased to showcase the uniquely inspired Jewish artist Marian Slepian.  She is nationally recognized with numerous works represented in synagogues and permanent collections across the U.S.  She expresses her love of Jewish ritual and tradition through wonderfully creative means.

For over 30 years, Marian Slepian has created contemporary pieces in cloisonné enamel. Her work is inspired with warmth and spiritual meaning. Brilliant colored wine cups, Torah shields, and menorahs are just a few dramatic examples of the cloisonné enamel technique.  Although each of Slepian's enamel pieces has a distinctly contemporary feel, clearly they are touched by a vibrant Byzantine influence. You'll want to see these lovely pieces up close.

Marian Slepian expresses an incredible vitality and love of tradition in the amazing pieces of Judaica she creates.
