Temple Israel was very fortunate to be among a select group of U.S. locations displaying the remarkable works of the Dafff Group. Without doubt, the theme of this colorful collection is the reinforcing of Jewish spirituality. The Dafff Group has drawn their inspiration from the textual and formal motifs rich in Jewish heritage and created these original works from paper-lace and fabric.
The four artists, Daniel Davis, Shoshi Feuerlicht, Nitza Karpel Flantz, and Richard Flantz all live in Tel Aviv. The acronym dafff draws from the initials of their surnames to name the group. Collectively the group’s expertise in ceramics, printmaking, and crafts using handwritten texts helped create these memorable pieces. Each piece uniquely reflects beauty, a strong sense of Jewish identity and brings "new life, light and color to Jewish values."
