Temple Israel’s Goodman Family Judaic and Archival Museum
Welcome to 75 years of Making a Difference!
In honor of Temple Israel’s 75th anniversary, I invite you to accompany us on a very special passage down memory lane.
Beginning at the DIA, moving to Manderson and finally settling in our current home in West Bloomfield, our path is an extraordinary story of vision, commitment and excellence.
This nostalgic journey, creatively captured by our Museum Committee,
recounts our story in three phases throughout the next year:
— Building & Clergy
— Schools & Temple Programs
— Travel & Affiliate Groups
Considerably more than brick and mortar, our history was shaped by remarkable leaders dedicated to the transformational values upon which Reform Judaism was built.
Envisioned and founded by Rabbi Leon Fram, Temple Israel was then lovingly nurtured and shaped by Rabbi M. Robert Syme, Cantor Robert Tulman and Cantor Harold Orbach, all of blessed memory.
Temple Israel continues to grow stronger each day with our current inspirational clergy team and a devoted congregation, all committed to Reform Jewish tenets that bring meaning and purpose to everyday life.
This special museum display will walk you through our compelling
history and the changes that led us to where we are today.
Enjoy the photos, memorabilia and memories that narrate Temple Israel’s story spanning three quarters of a century.
Take your time. Soak in the significance. Come back often.
And most of all, celebrate our history that lovingly embraces Rabbi Fram’s vision and the legacy of his dream to create a “Miracle Congregation.”
