Community-Wide Solidarity Services
In Honor of the Victims from the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh
Next weekend, on November 2nd, Temple Israel and congregations across Jewish Detroit—and throughout the nation—will host a special Shabbat service in honor of the victims of the Tree of Life massacre in Pittsburgh. Together, we will remember the 11 Jews, killed at a community synagogue one week earlier.
At Temple Israel
Help us honor the victims and repudiate the poisonous legacy of anti-Semitism by filling our congregations during these events as a proud and unified community.
Teen-Led Vigil
Monday Night October 29 at 6:30pm
In response to the tragedy, our teen leadership approached us with a desire to have their voices heard. On Monday, 10/29/2018, they led a “Teen Vigil” to stand with the Pittsburgh Jewish community. All teens in the community (Jewish and Non-Jewish) were invited to join them in the sanctuary. The program featured speakers and music led by members of YFTI, BBYO, and USY along with the Teen T’fillah Team. The event was open to the adult community as well.

Live stream the Solidarity Kabbalat Shabbat service, beginning at 7:30pm on 11/2/2018.
As always, our services are open to the community. We encourage you to invite friends and neighbors. There is no cost, nor do you need to be a member to attend.
