University of Michigan Professor Zvi Gittelman will explore the countries and cultures of Yiddish-speaking and German-speaking Jews, from whom most of us descend-focusing on Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia (Austro-Hungarian Empire) and Germany.

Monday, June 6 from 12-1:30 pm.  Our guest, Kirsten Fermaglich, Associate Professor of History and Jewish Studies at Michigan State University, will be tackling the topic of Jewish name changes.  Did thousands of Jews seek to escape their community, or to pursue the American dream!
