TYNER RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
To live fully as a Jew requires knowledge of our history, tradition and observance. Just as important is a secure emotional bond to our religion, our people, our heritage. The educational programs at Temple Israel integrate experience and knowledge, nourishing both heart and mind.
Education is Temple Israel’s foremost commitment and is demonstrated by providing a quality Jewish education to our Jewish youth. The dynamic faculty of committed Jewish educators is chosen for its ability to inspire students with a love of Judaism, while imparting skills necessary to become active and knowledgeable Jews. Temple Israel embodies Reform Judaism’s commitment to strengthen the fabric of Jewish life and ensure the future of Judaism and the Jewish people by offering a curriculum that is both age-appropriate and pedagogically sound.
Family Education
The family education programs at Temple Israel provide all members of the family the opportunity for a meaningful Jewish experience. The goal of Family Education at Temple Israel is to inspire parents to continue learning and teaching Jewish values and practices at home.
We strive to help engage and empower families to participate more fully in an active Jewish life, and to involve family members in their children’s Jewish education so that the whole family can support and enhance their Jewish experience.
Adult Education
Temple Israel’s commitment to life-long education extends throughout adulthood. Each year, we offer both year-long and mini-courses as well as individual speakers and programs. Both daytime and evening classes are taught by the Temple’s professional staff and other experienced Jewish professionals and lay people from our own congregation and the Jewish community at large.
We are pleased this year to offer a wide variety of classes, guest-speakers, programs and events to help you continue learning and exploring your Jewish faith. Adult Hebrew courses are taught each season. Take advantage of learning with other adults! Don’t miss out on these exciting offerings!
Libraries
Temple Israel has two libraries on site. The Weinberg Family Library houses a collection of over 10,000 volumes on Jewish theology, history, and philosophy, Jewish life, Israeli studies, art, music, language and literature, including classic and contemporary adult fiction from American, European and Israeli authors.
The Hodari Family Children's Library and Media Center holds over 5,000 books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and games of Jewish content for children of all ages, from preschool to high school, and provides students with access to the internet and a vast array of Hebrew and Judaic software programs.
Museum
The mission of the Goodman Family Judaic & Archival Museum at Temple Israel is to preserve our cherished heritage. Thanks to funding provided by the Goodman Family Judaica Museum Fund, we’re able to collect, preserve and exhibit articles from antiquity to modern times that represent the historical, artistic and cultural development of the Jewish people.
